Only 3 Weeks To Go

Get ready folks because we are just three weeks away to the inaugural Hungry Jacks UIM Unlimited Displacement World Powerboat Championship.  15th, 16th & 17th October will see Gol Gol (5 mins from Mildura Victoria)come alive for this historic event.  Gol Gol had a taste of Unlimited Displacement Circuit Racing last weekend with a static Display of the newly created cell boat of The Boss, The Real Thing, Fastwater Start Boat and In Excess.

The official course was set on the Murray River on Sunday with Totally Xstatic owned and piloted by Mr Bob Swinburne which is a Toyota Turbo Charged 6 Cyclinder participated in testing the course.  This was followed up by The Real Thing pushing things hard, and the boat was handling perfectly.  It is great news for The Real Thing as the set up of the boat remained unchanged from installing the cell and proved a huge success.

The fastest American K Boat in the World K 69 has arrived on the shores of Australia and owner Dave Rankin and Pilot Tony Scalarta and their team are very excited to bring their show to Australia.  Recent testing in America saw K69 reach 155mph and they are very confident they can be at the top of the field and have the World Championship title in their sights.  The big question is will they cope with the large 21ft Evercrafts especially Australia’s World Class competitor Troy Marland in Madness.

Dancing Bear, the Cell Unlimited Displacement team from New Zealand and pull out all stops to be part of this event and their boat is on the water ready to arrive in a week.  John Ryan and his dedicated family and crew have dedicated a lot of time and money getting prepared and are also looking forward to taking to the water and competing at this historical event.

The 6.0 litre Cell Displacement Class which competed last weekend at the Windsor Spectacular in New South Wales proved to provide some of the closest power boat racing you will see in any part of the world and many races saw three boats enter and exit the corners together.  Seven of the countries best 6.0 Litre teams will take to the water at Gol Gol in the Seidler Aviation 6.0 Litre Cup and represent the Australian class with the opportunity to present themselves to the world.

The racing from 11.30am – 5.00pm on Saturday and Sunday will see up to nine Unlimited World Championship heats and six heats of the 6.0 litre Seidler Cup.  The Juniors will also take to the water and provide an opportunity to entice new upcoming world champions to the sport of power boat racing.

Bring your chairs, there is plenty of shade around to sit under a tree and the area is looking very green.  Please note that there is NO BYO allowed in to the premises at any time.  The allocated area in front of the Gol Gol Hotel is for Alcohol consumption only and the remainder of the event area is a Dry Zone.  The Big Screen will be in place near the Gol Gol Hotel along with the V8 Supercar simulator.

Friday is Official Practice from 1.00pm to 5.00pm with all classes having allocated practice times.

There is public parking available across the road at the Gol Gol Primary School.

We are running a SMS competition over the weekend to go in the draw for either a ride in a V8 Jet Boat or the Official Start Boat so don’t miss out on that one.   Both choices will offer a ride of your life !!

The event will be filmed in High Definition with our Media Team and will be released on both an Official DVD and also be produced into a show for ONE HD.  Details on the purchase of the DVD will be available online, at the event and in the program.

The Pit Area will be closed during the day to all public however after the final race will be opened up on both days for all spectators to come in, meet the teams, buy merchandise and get up and close with the boats.

Stay tuned to the website and will look forward to welcoming you to Gol Gol.
